Spain is among the top 10 countries with the most valuable telecommunications brands. In position No. 8, the total of the brands in our country amounted to 12,242 million euros, 2% of the total.
The telecommunications sector loses brand value according to the latest Telecoms 150 2020 report by Brand Finance, the world’s leading independent brand valuation consultancy whose rankings comply with Dominican Republic Phone Number List ISO 10668 and ISO 20671. Of the five Spanish telecommunications brands included in the ranking of the 150 most valuable in the world, all of them decreased their brand value except Cellnex, which stands out with an increase of no less than 42%.In position 143, climbing 31 positions in the sector ranking, Cellnex TelecomIt is the only Spanish brand that increases its value and improves its positioning. According to its latest results, Cellnex Telecom, the largest group of telephony towers in Europe, recorded losses of nine million euros in 2019, which represents a 40% decrease compared to the red numbers of 2019, when it recorded losses of 15 million euros, while it achieved income of 1,035 million euros, 15% more. Cellnex plans to increase the forecasts for the different key indicators (Ebitda and free and recurring cash flow (RLFCF)) in 2020 by more than 50%. Thus, it plans to achieve an Ebitda of between 1,065 and 1,085 million euros and growth of the RLFCF around 50%. Brand Finance’s forecasts regarding the brand’s value for the coming years are also positive.Movistar , staying in position 13 of the table, is the Spanish with the highest brand value in the sector.
Despite reducing the brand value -9.8%, the Brand Strength Index increased slightly (+ 1%) and went from rating AA + in 2019 to AAA- in 2020. In the national ranking of the 100 most valuable brands in Spain recently reported, Movistar rose one place this year, placing itself within the top 3 (behind Santander and Zara). Although it continues to lead the sector ranking, which this year is made up of 5 brands that have managed to be part of the international top 150 and is among the top 20 telecoms in the world, according to our analysts, Movistar must be alert and know how to act in such a changing sector and competitive as telecommunications or it could lose some of the leadership. In its latest results, the company once again mentions O2 as a lever for growth.Telefónica in position 63 and Yoigo in 130 drop 3 places in the table. Telefónica experiences a 7% drop in its brand value and 5% in its strength. At Brand Finance we think that Telefónica is a very large group that requires some time to adapt to new situations and competition. Maybe it takes a little more than small companies to adapt quickly to change. Also, it does not grow as much as they do, but it is a brand of great value and very solid. Yoigo, for its part, which is part of the MASMÓVIL Group, slightly lowered its brand value by -3% compared to 2019.
