The fundamental element here is “the need to convince”, to “persuade” the other person, your interlocutor. That is why it is an intentional communication, which has a specific purpose that differentiates it from merely informative communication. So old that we sometimes forget its real meaning. Because we think that anyone who wants to sell us something is going to cheat us, they are going to make us sign things without knowing what they are, they are going to rip us off.
